We subsequently determined this to be the result of a rogue customer script.

Unfortunately our main person responsible for system administration was on a plane at the time, otherwise the problem would have no doubt been remedied more quickly.

We are reviewing our policies in order to see whether this type of problem can be prevented in the future.
