A new worm called MSBlast is rapidly spreading. Windows users (in particular Windows 2000) are urged to ensure that their PCs are patched with the most recent updates from Microsoft.
More information can be found here: http://www.zdnet.com.au/newstech/security/story/0,2000048600,20277170,00.htm It's quite easy to patch your machine - just run Windows Update from the Start menu, and keep installing critical patches and rebooting until there are none left. One of the symptoms of already having caught this worm may include Windows Update itself not working properly. Machines that are located behind well-configured firewalls are generally less vulnerable. |
