Email is almost back to normal, but further downtime is expected.
After suffering extreme server load and a massive mail queue, coupled with a massive reverse spam-bombing this afternoon, I can happily state that email is resuming normal operation. I am consistently opening SMTP ports on the main email server, the queue is shortening, the number of connections is lowering and the spam-bombing is subsiding. Hopefully by the time we all wake up tomorrow email will be back to normal. We have observed old mail arrive all afternoon and are satisfied that the majority of email sent during the period of downtime will arrive. However, we cannot guarantee that no email will be lost. Generally speaking, if it was, a fatal bounce message would have been sent to the sender. At this stage we expect that due to the generator problems, plans to rebuild the main power supplied to the facility where we host our servers will be delayed, therefore postponing the original downtime planned for the forthcoming weekend. We do not have any confirmation of this at the current time, so will update you when we get new information. Regards Chris Bell General Manager. Blue Sky Host |
