GST is the Goods and Services Tax, introduced by our beloved Liberal Australian government in 2000 despite promising that there would "never, ever" be a GST. It is akin to the VAT in the U.K. and elsewhere.

Economically, we don't think it's such a stupid idea - just that it should have been introduced a long time ago. Politically, it's been problematic as it has given the Federal Government greater control over the collection and distribution of taxes to the detriment of the State governments.

Effectively, it means that we tax our customers an additional 10% on all services offered. Prices are marked accordingly.
