We've made our choices

We have preferences but we don't have prejudices when it comes to technology. We use a combination of hosting platforms in order to be able to offer the most appropriate set of tools for your online venture and the people that are building it.

We mainly operate Red Hat linux servers with Ensim Appliance Manager. Ensim provides a variety of integrated management and support tools to our users. We also have a dedicated Windows 2003 server which we primarily customise for .NET, ASP, Frontpage and Dreamweaver developers. We charge for the privilege.

Our servers are currently located in the U.S. and Australia. We are currently offering co-location facilities in Sydney. However, knowing that we currently serve the majority of the Internet faster from the U.S. than we could from Australia, and considering the small technical returns that are achievable at a significant increase in costs, we wouldn't necessarily choose to or recommend that we move your web site or server to Australia... it depends on your business model. And your target market.

We have a track record

All hosting companies experience outages. All servers are subjected to the network that they sit on... and these days the Internet is a complicated, busy place where it's easy for things to go wrong.

What we want you to know and understand is that there will be times when you have trouble reaching your web site. This could be due to your Internet connection, due to any machine inbetween you and your server having a problem, or even due to a meteor shower. At the end of the day we do our best to keep your web site up so that your customers can get to it, even if you can't.

And more importantly, when you encounter one of these Internet flares, we aim to be there to help you through it and analyse and explain the problem.

Keeping your site up

All of our servers are located in facilities that offer fire-proof, UPS-mediated, cyclone-proof and generator-backed power supplies with multifarious redundant high-speed links.

We aim to provision our servers so that they benefit from an excess of resources in performing their function. Currently we're achieving that objective.

And we watch what's going on so that, in case anything does go wrong, we're onto it before you know about it. But we always appreciate your call.
